Veni, Vidi, Vici.
I came, I saw, I conquered. ~ Julius Caesar
My whole life I was told that I could NOT be an artist even though creativity was my very soul, and begged for release. I believed that…until my creativity found its soul mate in photography, and I fell in love with love itself.
That look between two people that says there is no one else in the world, but you.
That smile that is only saved for him alone.
And I held the power to capture that look, that smile, that love, immortalizing it for all to see forever.
Once, I had a taste of photographing love, my soul was hooked.
It was enough for me to take a hard look at all my fears of what it meant to be an artist, to be a photographer, and then I took a giant leap of faith to conquer them all.
That was 5 years ago.
Since Shelly Spithoff Photography became official, I’ve shot weddings, big and small, near and far, civil and religious from many, many different cultures that span the globe.
I’ve become friends with other artisans; florists, cake designers, calligraphers, planners, stationers, whom I’ve worked with on cherished projects, turning our dreams into reality.
Prominent magazines and blogs have featured my work.
And still, each click of the shutter at each wedding thrills my soul.
A bride once asked me if I ever got tired of it all, and the answer is, no,
I’m still very much in love with love itself.
